There are over 32,000 family carers in Coventry. Are you one of them?
Family carers are people of any age who, without payment, look after family members, friends or neighbours who could not manage alone due to illness, disability, mental health needs, substance dependency or old age.
Many carers do not recognise the vital role they are playing and often 'just get on with it' without thinking that there may be support to help them.
We are committed to supporting carers to help them access advice and support at the earliest opportunity. We are working in partnership with Carers Trust Heart of England who provides family carers information, advice and support, including practical support, to meet carer’s individual needs. Please ask at reception for more information.
Without support, caring for someone can lead to carers' lives being adversely affected in a number of ways, in particular, financial disadvantage, social isolation and ill health. To support carers to look at their situation and support available, carers have a right to an assessment of their own needs; the assessment considers the impact on a carer's activities beyond their caring responsibilities and the impact on their health and wellbeing.

Register As A Carer
It is important to let us know if you are a Carer for one of our patients.
Sometimes when people are looking after someone they can get tired or frustrated and would like to know that there is someone outside the family who might understand and can help them. If we know that you are a main carer, we can offer you that help.
Not only can we take greater care of you, but we also need to know who is supporting our patients. The information you give us will be added to the notes of the person you are caring for, so we can contact you quickly in an emergency or if we have any other concerns. Also if you have concerns we know we can talk to you, as the main carer, with their permission.
To notify us that you are supporting one of our patients, please speak to one of the receptionists.
It is also to be noted that anyone registered as a Carer is entitled to a flu jab regardless of age.
